Since Taiwan is an island, there are many nice beaches. Taiwan's beaches are increasingly gaining the recognition they deserve.
Anyone can make a great day trip from cities. Those spots all offer a wide range of activities, as well as some great accommodations and dining.
The majority of Taiwan's popular beaches face the Pacific Ocean. They can be found along the east and south coast.
However, most of the beaches on west coast are rocky shores.
New Moon Beach (新月沙灣) is one of the few beaches which luckly located in the Hsinchu County.
The beach is named from its crescent-shaped bend. The coastline spans 4 kilometers long, and it is a seawater bathing spot open to the public.
This beach often hosts major events and activities like, music festivals, Taiwanese Beach Seine (牽罟), sand sculpture...etc.

If you are bringing kids with you, no worries.
The place has you all covered: toilets, changing rooms, rinsing stations, activity center, lookout platforms and trails.
With all necessary facilities around the beautiful beach, clear water, waves, ease of access, and foot stands,
New Moon Beach (新月沙灣) is probably Hinshu residents' favorite beach to visit with kids.
So if you are visiting Hinshu with kids, this could be a spot on your to-go list.
Besides playing the sand & water, some people will come here to experience the extreme sports- windsurfing
Without a second of doubt, New Moon beach has become a windsurfing paradise because of its known winld wind (九降風) in the Hsinhsu.
However, due to the conflict between fishermen and wind surfer, the activity is no longer being practiced here.
Instead of going somewhere afar, New Moon beach is also a popular wedding photo-shooting destination.
You can also see the different sunset here that you can't catch at the East coast.
Coast guard station is positioned at the entrance. They are located on the second floo of the light house, while the first floor is a pavilion.
The rinsing stations here provides warm water before 7 o'clock; afterwards, you can only rinse in cold water.
The place will be danferous after 7.
New Moon Beach is home to rich natural ecological landscapes, as it is located in the intertidal zone of an estuary.
The place infuses spetacular experiences with surrounding natures: sunset, sanding beach, sand dunes, forests, and other landscapes.
Tourists have the opportunity to experience Taiwanese Beach Seine (牽罟) like fishermen here.

New Moon Beach is part of the scenic spots of Bazi Cave (拔子窟), another is the Zhubei Coastal Forest Conservation Area (竹北海岸原生林步道)
Bazi (拔仔) is the pronunciation of guava fruit in the Minnanese language.
During earlier days, guava was grown in this area, and the terrain was low-lying.
Nowadays, Bazi Cave is widely known for cultivating gray mullets (wuyu 烏魚), and is also called "Wuyuzi 烏魚子".
The gray mullet fish is quite expensive in the market.

Close to New Moon beach, you can't miss the secret dining spots hidden in the vast-stretching rice paddies - The Rural Kitchen -Vanilla Wind (香草微風。田園廚房)
The restaurant is rather in a secert place among the paddy fields, even the local people may not be aware of that there is a restaruant.
The entrance is obscure because its exterior.
You need to find the gate on the right of the residential pathway.
The garden will lead you to the entrance as if it's an undisturbed world.
it's totally different senic after you go-throught the path.
Seemingly all of the sudden, the clamness & quietness are taking over your restless mind.
You will find the fantastic glass house hidden behind the residence.
Here you will be bathing in the smell of rice.
The restaurent serves Pasta, Risotto, baked rice, pizza, salad...etc.
Often time, my experiences with the dinning in distanced place are rather plain.
Yet Vanilla Wind didn't let me down.
My recommdation is the red wine beef with tomato sauce risotto.
The beef tendon in the disc is well-cooked and tender.
The restaurent also serves fresh juice (not from the concentrated juice)
it's very good for kids.
Frendly reminder: you must make reservation in advance before you visit there .
The restaurant is often fully-booked no mater weekdays or holidays.
